Colorado says hard no to $18M birthday bridge at the Capitol

Not gonna lie, I was curious how that pedestrian bridge idea would land- turns out, it crashed and burned. 93% of people said nope. I get wanting to mark the 150th in a memorable way, but $18 million for a walkway just felt tone-deaf. For travelers, a bridge like that could’ve been a nice touch- a photo-friendly, walkable link between the Capitol and Veterans Memorial Park, maybe even a mini landmark. But in a state where visitors usually come for mountains and trails, not downtown strolls, it felt off-brand. Glad they listened to the public on this one. Sounds like something more local and mobile might be on deck now, which honestly makes way more sense in a state as spread out and scenic as Colorado.

What kind of celebration would feel right for a milestone like this?
