Colombia departure tax refund… actually worked at the airport

Had heard you can get a refund on the departure tax if you’re a tourist staying under 60 days, but wasn’t sure how it actually works.

Tried it at Medellin airport before my flight and it was surprisingly straightforward. Asked at baggage drop, they checked passport, onward ticket, and yellow fever certificate, had me sign something, then sent me to a cashier.

Got the refund on the spot and just exchanged it to USD right after.

Way easier than I expected.
