Had a strange experience at LAX security recently. While waiting in the TSA line, several people wearing official looking badges approached and pulled a group out of the line, asking for IDs.
At first it looked like they were part of TSA since they were standing near the agents and acting very official. They took the ID and led the group to another spot nearby.
Only after being asked to enter a phone number did it become clear they were actually CLEAR+ sales reps trying to sign people up, not TSA staff.
By that point the original spot in the security line was already lost. The whole situation felt misleading since they looked and behaved like they were part of airport security.
