Trying to figure out how the new “earn by miles flown” vs “earn by price paid” options work when you’re mixing Alaska flights with Oneworld partners.
I fly SEA↔SoCal monthly on Alaska, and a few times a year internationally on partners. I always credit to Alaska, but I can’t always book partner itineraries through Alaska (my recent Finnair trip to Sweden didn’t show up on Alaska’s site, though it did last year).
If I choose miles flown, that seems straightforward for partners.
But if I choose price paid, does that only apply to fares purchased directly from Alaska?
Would partner flights booked on Alaska.com get the “5 points per dollar” thing too?
And if I book directly on a partner’s site using my Alaska FF#, will I still earn partner mileage normally or do I lose that if I’m on the “price paid” structure?
Trying to avoid accidentally forfeiting partner miles just because Alaska hid the flights on their site this year.
