China Eastern Airlines will begin twice-weekly flights from Shanghai to Buenos Aires (EZE) via Auckland starting in December 2025. This historic route marks the first direct air connection between China and Argentina, with a strategic stopover in New Zealand. The service will use Boeing 777‑300ER aircraft, offering three cabin classes and seating for 316 passengers. Flights via Auckland avoid longer northern routes, reducing travel time and easing jet lag on the Pacific corridor. The Auckland–Buenos Aires leg benefits from fifth‑freedom rights, allowing local passenger and cargo services. This move supports broader Belt and Road connectivity and strengthens links across Asia-Pacific, South America, and Oceania.
