China Eastern Airlines, a SkyTeam carrier, is launching a new direct flight between Shanghai Pudong and Almaty, Kazakhstan, starting July 4, 2025. The service will operate three times weekly—Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays—using an Airbus A321, with a flight time of roughly seven hours each way. This marks China Eastern’s first route into Central Asia and aims to boost tourism, cultural exchange, business links, and capitalize on Kazakhstan’s existing visa-free access for Chinese travelers. Almaty will complement China Eastern’s growing international network, strengthening connectivity between China and Central Asia.
