Picked up my checked bag and it was torn to shreds. I had flavored Tums in the front pocket and while I can’t prove it, this looks exactly like dog damage. The bag is ripped open where the pocket was, and there’s still saliva on it. Looks like a dog went to town until it got to the Tums.
American told me my bag was “delayed” and then just handed me what was left when I came back for it. No explanation. No heads up. Just here you go.
I know this was probably TSA or DEA and not AA directly, but how does an airline tape up a destroyed bag and say absolutely nothing? That’s what really bothers me.
I lost four pairs of good pants, multiple shirts, socks, and the duffel itself. The bag was inherited from my father in law, so there are no receipts. Same with the clothes. AA wants receipts for everything, which is basically impossible.
Last time I ever voluntarily check a bag if I can avoid it. This whole thing just sucks.
