This post is bleak but also very honest. If the goal is pure survival mode with minimal stress, places like Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, parts of rural Thailand, and inland Philippines come up for a reason. Cheap rent, cheap food, generally safe, and you can stay put without constantly moving.
Outside Asia, Georgia (the country) and parts of Albania also get mentioned a lot. Easy visas, low rent if you stay out of capitals, and you can live very quietly. Latin America can be cheap too, but safety and stress levels vary a lot depending on where you land.
Feels less like a travel question and more like someone needing a long pause from life. Hope they find somewhere that gives them some breathing room.
