Cheap Turkish + IndiGo ticket. Absolute nightmare when things go wrong

Wanted to share a warning about the Turkish Airlines and IndiGo codeshare. Yes, the price can be amazing. This was about $1,080 roundtrip versus $1,900 plus elsewhere. On paper, it looks like a steal.

Outbound was fine. Turkish long haul was great as usual. IndiGo segments were crowded and basic, but acceptable for the price.

The problem came on the return. IndiGo canceled the ATQ to DEL flight and everything fell apart. After 12 plus hours at the airport, no one could help. IndiGo said Turkish had to confirm space. Turkish said it was an IndiGo ticket so IndiGo had to handle it. Phone support and chat were useless. Airport staff just told us to wait for an email from someone in Delhi to someone in Istanbul. No timeline. No updates. Nothing.

After 24 hours of this, I gave up and booked them one way on Qatar back to SFO out of pocket. I’ll try to get a refund later when I have the patience for it.

If everything runs on time, this combo might be fine. But if there are any delays or cancellations, you are basically on your own. Definitely not something I’d recommend for older travelers.
