Chase closed my account over a check deposit mistake, what can I do?

I’m 18 and just got a scholarship check for $2.5k. I tried depositing it through the Chase app, but I’d never done a check deposit before and messed it up badly. The check was inside a folded card. When the app asked for the front, I took a photo of the front of the card. For the back, I took a photo of the back of the card that just had the scholarship name and amount, not the actual endorsement side.

The next day my account and Zelle were locked. I called Chase and they said they severed the relationship but wouldn’t tell me why, just said it was confidential. I went into a branch with the physical check and even the bank associate was confused. She agreed it was an honest mistake and called internally, but got the same vague answer and nothing changed.

Right now the account still shows as locked. Is there any way to appeal something like this or escalate it properly? I even thought about going to the Chase Tower in Chicago but I don’t know if that’s pointless. I’m also really worried about whether I’ll ever get the $2.5k since I actually need it for college.

I know this was dumb, I genuinely just didn’t know what I was doing and didn’t have anyone around to help.
