Weekly work traveler here. I’ve mostly stayed Marriott but started mixing in Hilton.
Back in November I had a stay booked in Austin. My flight on 11/12 got cancelled because of the government shutdown staffing issues. I called the hotel and they told me they wouldn’t charge me as a courtesy. Then they charged me anyway. I called again, spoke to the manager, and he reversed it.
Now fast forward almost 3 months and the charge just reappeared on my credit card.
Is that even normal? Can a hotel just keep your card on file and recharge months later after it was already credited?
I’m working with Hilton customer service now, but it feels pretty wild to see a charge pop back up that long after it was supposedly handled.
Has anyone else had something like this happen?
