I’ve been keeping an eye on the latest CDC updates, and the new global polio alert definitely caught my attention. I’ve got a trip to Europe planned later this year, Spain and the UK are both on my list and seeing them on the circulating poliovirus list was a bit of a wake-up call. I had my childhood vaccinations, but now I’m seriously considering getting that single lifetime booster they’re recommending for adults.
It’s not just polio either I was in Asia a couple of years ago during a dengue outbreak, and I remember how much extra care I had to take with mosquito repellent and choosing accommodations with screens. It’s a reminder that travel prep isn’t just booking flights and hotels, it’s making sure I’m healthy enough to enjoy the trip without bringing anything unwanted back home.
Have you ever had to change your travel plans because of a health advisory?
