Quick question wrapped in a bit of venting. I hit Qatar Privilege Club Gold in Jan 2025 and already have enough miles to retain it for 2026. With a possible move to Hong Kong coming up, I figured I’d start building status with Cathay while still relying on my guaranteed Qatar status.
On two recent flights, I had my Cathay FF number on the boarding pass and had no issues getting lounge access by showing my Qatar Gold digital card. That worked fine.
Yesterday in HKG though, I was denied lounge access with the same setup. The only way they let me in was by re issuing my boarding pass with my Qatar FF number instead. Not sure why the inconsistency between lounges, but it was annoying enough that I’ve decided not to credit these flights to Cathay.
I currently have a miles/points claim pending with Cathay. If I withdraw that claim, can I then submit those same flight legs to Qatar for credit instead? Or does starting a claim with one program block me permanently from claiming elsewhere, even if it’s withdrawn?
Would really appreciate confirmation from anyone who’s dealt with this before.
