Got some bad news and trying to sanity check it.
I have an upcoming trip to New Zealand, flying into Queenstown with a connection on Air New Zealand. The entire itinerary was booked through Singapore Airlines on a standard fare.
I was just told I can’t upgrade using KrisFlyer miles because the NZ domestic connecting flight doesn’t have multiple fare classes. Apparently that blocks the whole upgrade.
Is this actually a thing? I had no idea a short regional connection could prevent upgrading the long haul segment. I’ve been sitting on about 400k miles specifically to use on a long flight like this, so this was a pretty disappointing surprise.
