Got a Finnair HEL to DFW flight coming up, booked in economy through AA. Checked upgrade options and both airlines say no, even though Finnair’s own site shows around 10 premium economy seats open.
Finnair told me I have to upgrade through AA since the ticket was issued by them. AA told me they only see one upgradeable PE seat in their system, not the ten Finnair shows for sale, so they can’t do anything.
Has anyone else run into this with oneworld partners? Any trick besides asking at check in? Seems wild to stare at a mostly empty PE cabin and not be able to pay to move up.
