Can’t change dates on Booking.com even without cancelling?

Booked a hotel that says non-refundable, but I’m not trying to cancel, just change the dates a bit.

Booking says they can’t do anything unless the hotel approves it. The hotel says Booking can’t change it.

Now I’m stuck in the middle and not sure what to do.

Is changing dates basically treated the same as cancelling in this case?
