I’m new to European train travel (I’m from the US), so this surprised me a bit.
I booked a train from Kraków to Bratislava, and a few days later I had to cancel it. I expected some kind of cancellation fee or partial refund, but I ended up getting a full refund from České dráhy with no penalties.
In the US, for example with Amtrak, refunds are usually only possible within 24 hours, so this felt very different.
Is this normal in Europe? Do most train operators allow full refunds even after a few days, or does it depend on the ticket type and company?
Just trying to understand how flexible European rail tickets usually are.
