I’ve been loyal to Southwest for years. A-List Preferred, Companion Pass, flew constantly. In the last month alone I was on 10 flights all over the country.
Tried using the DreamBig promo to rebook a points flight I had already upgraded with cash. The “30% off” saved me about $30, but whatever, I went through with it.
Here’s the breaking point. When I rebooked, my paid upgrade got refunded as a travel credit. Fine. But then Southwest wouldn’t let me use that credit to upgrade the new flight. Apparently upgrade credits now only work for fares and taxes, not upgrades.
Spent an hour on the phone. No fix. No way to restore the old flight. No way to apply the promo. Nothing.
So I cancelled 18 upcoming flights, paid off my Southwest Visa, and cut it up. I’m out. Feels like the airline is actively burning loyalty at this point.
If you’re rebooking anything with promos, read the fine print carefully. Loyalty isn’t worth the headache anymore.
