Cancel and rebook Mint to double dip on tiles?

You’re basically thinking: cancel the existing Mint ticket for a travel credit, then rebook the same flight with fresh cash so you earn 24 tiles instead of the 12 tied to your original booking.

On the surface, it sounds clever.

A few things to consider though:

JetBlue awards tiles based on eligible spend tied to the ticket number. If you cancel and rebook, the system may net out the value if it’s essentially the same funds being reused, especially if you’re just applying travel credit.

If you rebook fully with a credit, you might not earn additional tiles the way you’re expecting since it’s not “new” spend.

There’s always a small risk the fare changes or the seat inventory shifts while you’re canceling and rebooking.

If you truly rebook with entirely new cash and save the credit for a separate future booking, that’s different. But if you’re just recycling the same dollars into the same flight, it may not produce double tiles the way it seems on paper.

You’re not crazy for thinking about it, just make sure you understand how JetBlue calculates tiles before you start clicking cancel.
