Canada’s Forgotten Jetliner The Avro C102 Flew Just Days After the Comet!

I just learned that Canada had a shot at being a pioneer in jet aviation with the Avro C102 Jetliner, which flew just 13 days after the UK’s de Havilland Comet in 1949.

This thing hit speeds over 400 mph and could’ve changed air travel for North America if it wasn’t sidelined in favor of a military project.

As a fan of aviation history, I can’t help but wonder: what if they had kept going with it? Imagine seeing this sleek jet in action on East Coast routes or even under Howard Hughes' brand.
