Canada getting added to China’s visa free list for 2026

This is pretty big news for Canadians. China just announced Canada is being added to the visa free list, same 30 day deal that a bunch of other countries already have. No start date yet, but it’s confirmed at the government level.

If you’ve ever applied for a China visa, you know how annoying and expensive that process is. This saves a lot of time and easily $150–$200 in fees.

Worth noting the program already runs through the end of 2026 for most countries, and Canada will slot into that once it goes live. US and UK still not included, so nothing changes there except the transit option.

Also interesting that the arrival card is now digital. Small thing, but anything that makes arrival smoother in China is a win.

Curious to see when the start date drops.
