I am an EU citizen currently traveling in the Philippines and I have lost my passport. My home country does not have an embassy in Manila, but there is one in Bangkok.
The only replacement document I can obtain locally is an EU Emergency Travel Document issued by another EU member state’s embassy. I still have my valid EU ID card, but I assume it may not be useful for travel within Asia.
My main question is whether it would be possible to fly from the Philippines to Bangkok using the EU Emergency Travel Document and pass Thai immigration, so I can reach the embassy and apply for a new passport.
Returning to my home country would cause significant financial loss and disrupt my planned months of travel across Asia, so I am trying to avoid that option if possible.
Has anyone experienced a similar situation or knows whether this type of travel document is accepted for entry in Thailand?
