Can family or friends sail with you while you are working on a cruise ship?

I’m looking into onboard roles with Starboard or Harding+, potentially working on Royal Caribbean or Viking ships, and I had a question about travel perks for crew.

Is it allowed for friends or family members to sail on the same cruise while you are working onboard?

If yes, how does that usually work in practice? Do they get discounted fares or special access? Also, are there limits depending on job role, seniority, or contract length?

Would appreciate hearing from anyone with direct experience.
