I just read that over 600,000 Californians are now using the FAIR Plan our so-called insurance of last resort and it really hits home. My neighbor in the Oakland hills couldn’t get a single private insurance quote due to wildfire risk, even though we’ve never had a fire nearby. They had to turn to the FAIR Plan just to close on their home. And this isn’t just rural areas urban neighborhoods are getting hit too.
Meanwhile, Florida’s state-backed insurance usage is dropping fast. I can't help but wonder what reforms they nailed that California hasn’t.
