If you've ever driven Highway 99 near Madera, you've probably seen the legendary spot Where the Palm Meets the Pine the symbolic dividing line between NorCal and SoCal. These two quirky trees in the median have stirred debate, inspired music, and become low-key local legends.
They were set to be removed for a highway expansion, but after public outcry, Caltrans has decided not only to save them but to create a new grove nearby with 15 palms and 15 pines. The originals will also be replanted! Kinda love when roadside oddities get the respect they deserve.
Have you ever passed by this spot? Did you even know about it?
