I was planning a more budget-friendly vacation this August and initially considered Rome, but decided against it due to the heat and the number of paid attractions like museums.
So I thought I’d switch things up and focus on nature, hiking, and scenic views instead. The Dolomites really stood out to me as the perfect option.
However, when I started checking accommodation in Cortina d'Ampezzo and Ortisei for the first two weeks of August, I was shocked. Prices are around €300+ per night, and in some cases even €400–500+, which is way beyond what I expected for a “budget” nature trip.
Are there any nearby areas in the Dolomites region that are more affordable but still offer good access to hiking and views?
