Brooklyn Subway Station Marquee Collapse Sparks Safety Concerns

Was in the area yesterday and couldn’t believe my eyes the old marquee above the Clark Street station entrance in Brooklyn Heights just collapsed. Thankfully, no one was hurt since it happened early Sunday morning. Still, it’s pretty unsettling. The awning was part of the historic St. George Hotel and has clearly been neglected for years. I’ve used that station often and always found it grimy and rundown.

Now 2 and 3 trains are bypassing the stop while the MTA sorts it out. Honestly, this feels like a wake-up call. Imagine if this had happened during the weekday rush. Anyone else think it’s time the city got serious about inspecting and maintaining these aging structures before someone actually gets hurt?
