Still pretty shaken writing this.
On May 2, 2025 I was flying BA007 from Heathrow to Tokyo. 14-hour flight. I have a severe sesame allergy, the anaphylaxis kind. I told multiple cabin crew before meal service. When the food came, I checked again. They assured me it was safe.
The meal came sealed and the packaging did not list sesame as an allergen. I took a few bites and then saw white sesame seeds all over the food.
Within minutes I started reacting. Mid-flight. Over the Pacific. No hospital. That was genuinely terrifying. The crew were clearly horrified and filed an incident report because of how serious it was.
British Airways’ response later was a generic email basically saying sorry your meal wasn’t great, here’s £50.
No call. No acknowledgment of how close this was to a medical emergency. Nothing about safety failures. Just £50.
I’m honestly still in shock at how this was handled
