Boutique / Design Hotel puerto Escondido Mexico

I recently redeemed Marriott points for a stay at Hotel Escondido in Puerto Escondido—and honestly, it blew all my expectations out of the water. This isn’t your typical design-branded hotel; in fact, it has no glossy corporate style—it feels raw, genuine, and deeply connected to the coast.

There’s zero pretense here—just standalone palapa bungalows, open-air living, and plunge pools set against a backdrop of wild beach and the Sierra Madre. It feels chic but homey.

The privacy is stellar—no loud lounge areas, no crowds. The infinity pool runs the length of the beach, and the open breezes, crashing waves, and terraced decks make it feel intentionally unstaged. If you’re writing or simply craving a romantic escape, this place sets the mood without trying too hard.

The hotel partners with local efforts on Bacocho Beach, where you can participate in leatherback, olive ridley, and green turtle hatchling releases at sunset. Leather back are very cute sea turtles.

In terms of value-per-point, this is hands-down the top Marriott redemption I’ve made. You get privacy, beachfront access, local conservation, and minimalist luxury—all in one package.

If you don’t like seafood would be my warning. The restaurant at the hotel, near by hotels and of course at the amazing sushi place are all fish.
