This is one of those Booking.com problems that only shows up when you actually need paperwork.
You paid Booking, the hotel provided the stay, and now both are pointing fingers like it’s not their problem. Meanwhile you’re stuck losing money because neither wants to generate a basic tax invoice. I’ve seen this exact loop before and it’s brutal.
Booking loves to say they’re “just the agent” until it’s time to take responsibility for documents. Hotels love to say they never touched the money so they can’t issue anything. From the customer side, it feels like a complete cop out.
What’s extra frustrating is that insurance companies are rigid about this stuff. Screenshots and receipts won’t cut it, they want a proper invoice with tax details and that’s it.
This is exactly why I’ve started booking direct when I know I’ll need an invoice later. Third party sites are fine until something goes wrong, then no one owns the problem.
Hope someone here has found a way to force Booking to issue one, because the current setup is ridiculous.
