I booked a one night stay through Booking.com on Dec 3 for a stay in May. Booking was confirmed at the price shown.
Today, the accommodation messaged me saying there was a “system glitch” and the price was wrong, and that I need to cancel and rebook at a higher rate.
I asked why this wasn’t caught over a month ago when the booking was confirmed. They just doubled down and gave no proof of any glitch. It honestly feels like they realized they can now charge more for a new listing and are trying to retroactively raise the price.
I contacted Booking.com expecting them to make the property honor the confirmed price. Instead, they told me I have 24 hours to cancel for a full refund, otherwise I’ll be penalized. No pressure at all.
When I pushed back and asked to speak to someone higher, the agent repeated the same line and then hung up on me.
Has anyone else dealt with this? Did you get the original price honored, or is this just how Booking.com handles it now?
