I’ve got Genius Level 3 on Booking.com, supposedly the highest tier. Looking at a property right now that proudly says I’m getting a 20 percent Genius discount.
Price shown to me: 17,000 in the local currency.
Out of curiosity, I had a relative check the exact same property and dates without being logged in or having Genius. Their price? 15,000. No discount badge. Just cheaper.
So what exactly is the Genius discount doing here? Because this feels straight up misleading. Marking up the base price and then slapping a fake discount on it doesn’t really count as a perk.
Makes me wonder how often this happens and how many people never notice. At this point the Genius label feels more like marketing than an actual benefit.
Anyone else seen this kind of thing with Booking.com?
