Booked Venice hotel on Booking… now they want me to pay on another site?
I booked a non refundable rate on Booking because it was cheaper and paid at the time. Got the confirmation email from Booking.
Within minutes, the hotel messaged me asking me to pay through a separate Italian website link.
What’s odd is my credit card hasn’t been charged at all. No pending charge either. I even called my card company to check.
I emailed the hotel directly yesterday and haven’t heard back yet. Trip is in about 7 weeks so I have some time, but this feels off.
Has anyone had this happen? Is this normal for some Italian hotels or does it sound like a scam?
