Just booked Excellence El Carmen for our first all inclusive. Went with the club beachfront honeymoon two story rooftop terrace suite with plunge pool. Site said it was the last room available.
After booking, I saw an option to “select your room.” Figured it was pointless since there’s only one left, but clicked just to see where it was on the map. Clicked around, got excited, didn’t realize that meant I was agreeing to a $105 charge.
No warning. No “confirm payment” message. Just an email later saying I’ll be charged $105 at check in.
Called reservations and they basically said tough luck. If that room is available, I pay the fee. No flexibility, no empathy. What really bugs me is they’re charging me to “choose” the only room they had left anyway.
Now I’m seriously considering canceling because this just leaves a bad taste. Anyone have DR all inclusive recommendations with private or plunge pool rooms that don’t play games like this?
