Figured I’d share in case this helps someone else. We had a Marriott stay booked for this weekend and then a massive snowstorm popped up. Roads are expected to be unsafe and we won’t be able to drive there.
I’d booked a non refundable, non changeable rate and I don’t have any Bonvoy status, so I honestly assumed I was out of luck. I called the property anyway, explained the situation, and asked if there was any chance to move the date or get a credit. The agent opened a case and said they’d see what they could do.
Didn’t get my hopes up, especially with check in only two days away.
But surprisingly, they emailed back and fully canceled and refunded the reservation. No hassle.
I know this won’t always happen, but if weather is genuinely unsafe, it’s definitely worth calling and being polite. Sometimes it pays off.
