A few weeks ago, we found a mistake fare from Los Angeles to Palau for about $650 per person, which felt like an incredible deal, so we booked it.
The ticket was issued through Philippine Airlines and we already received the e-ticket confirmation. However, we still need to arrange a separate flight to Los Angeles before this trip.
Since the trip is in July and Palau is quite remote and expensive, we’re hesitant to book hotels and excursions in case the airline cancels the fare. Refundable options seem limited, and we don’t want to risk losing more money.
Would it be a good idea to contact the airline to confirm the ticket is secure before booking anything else? Also, does travel insurance usually cover cancellations related to mistake fares, especially if the issue only shows up at the airport?
