Totally get that feeling. You grab a great price, then check FlightRadar and suddenly it looks like chaos.
A couple cancellations in a few days doesn’t automatically mean the route is melting down. With Spirit especially, a single aircraft issue can ripple for a day or two because they run tight aircraft rotations. If one plane goes tech, the same flight number can get hit multiple days in a row.
Mid February is still winter ops season too. Weather somewhere else in the network can knock things out of sync even if your city is fine.
That said, late evening flights like 9:30 pm are more vulnerable. If delays stack up during the day, the last flight sometimes gets canceled to reset the aircraft for tomorrow.
If it’s truly important, a few things you can do:
Keep an eye on loads and history over the next week
Have a backup flight in mind
Consider travel insurance if the consequences are high
Most Spirit flights operate just fine. But they don’t have the same cushion as larger carriers when something goes wrong.
Hopefully yours is one of the boring, on time ones.
