Just booked my first-ever award trip for me and my husband, two business-class round trips SFO → LHR for 208k Virgin points. But the fees/taxes came out to almost $3,000 and now I’m wondering if I totally blew it. We’re locked into October 2026 dates, used the Chase → Virgin 1:1.3 promo, and I’m still not sure if this was actually a good redemption or just… painful.
Is this normal for Virgin? Are the surcharges really that high? I know UK departures are expensive but still felt like a lot. Curious what the more experienced folks think and whether this is typical or if I got ripped off without realizing it.
