BofA co branded AF/KLM card declined due to “too much fraud”

Tried to book an AF flight BOS CDG LIS yesterday using my Bank of America co branded Air France KLM card. The charge kept getting declined.

After sitting on hold with BofA for over 2.5 hours, I finally got a fraud specialist who told me they are declining all charges to Air France KLM right now because there has been too much fraud. That honestly blew my mind. A co branded card blocking charges to the actual airline it’s tied to?

I asked if they could just manually push the transaction through. Supervisor said they couldn’t approve the charge, only override some parts of the MasterCard AI, whatever that means.

Called KLM since they had last touched the reservation. Tried again. Declined again.

Switched to my AmEx Platinum and it went through instantly.

Has anyone else run into this with the BofA AF/KLM cards? Kind of defeats the purpose of having a co branded card if you can’t even buy tickets with it.
