Blade to Joby? Flying Taxis Might Be Closer Than We Think

Just read that Joby Aviation, the electric air taxi startup backed by Delta and Toyota, is buying Blade for a shockingly low $125 million. If you're not familiar, Blade is basically the Uber of helicopters and already runs 50,000+ rides a year. Now Joby wants to plug that network into their quieter, electric VTOLs and start passenger flights in 2026. As a city traveler, this could be a game-changer, especially for airport runs.

It’s wild to see how SPACs have shifted in value. Blade went public with a bang, but has crashed hard since then.

Meanwhile, Joby seems to be making all the right moves. If the deal goes through, would you actually pay to fly over traffic? Especially if it’s more sustainable and less noisy than choppers?

I’m seriously curious how this could shape city travel in the next few years.
