Trying to decide between two very different options and could use some real world input.
Because I’m a Hilton employee, I can get the nicest beachfront room at Hilton Mar Caribe for about $700 a night. Direct beach access, whirlpool, all the bells and whistles. Normally it’s closer to $1400, so objectively a great deal. Downside is I keep reading the resort itself is just okay and can feel crowded.
Other option is Grand Velas. Cheapest room is about $1200 a night and that one would actually require a shuttle to get to the beach. Clearly a much nicer resort overall, but the room itself would be the most basic option.
We’ll be traveling with a 1 and 3 year old, so we’ll likely spend more time in the room than usual. Food quality matters a lot to us too.
For anyone who’s been to Hilton Mar Caribe, how passable is the food? And how painful is it to get dinner reservations at reasonable times, especially with kids?
Curious what others would pick here.
