My partner and I (both 29) will be staying in Rome starting May 30 for about 5.5 days. We are staying roughly 8 km from the Colosseum near Tuscolana.
We do plan to visit major sites like the Vatican and Colosseum, but we will try to go early in the morning or later in the evening to avoid peak crowds.
What we are looking for:
We are interested in exploring areas of Rome that are still interesting and authentic but not packed with tourists all the time. We prefer places where we can walk around, eat, and experience the city without being in heavy crowds constantly.
We understand Rome is a very busy destination, but we would like to balance the main attractions with quieter neighborhoods or lesser-known spots.
Question:
What areas, neighborhoods, parks, viewpoints, or attractions would you recommend in Rome that are generally less crowded but still worth visiting?
Any suggestions for calmer routes, hidden gems, or alternative sightseeing ideas would be really appreciated.
