Just tried booking dining for my upcoming sailing with Virgin Voyages, and the new “basic fare” setup feels pretty restrictive.
This will be my 6th cruise with them, but the first under these updated rules. When reservations opened, the only dinner availability before 8:45 PM across all nights was at Gunbae, nothing else. For brunch, both Razzle Dazzle and The Wake were completely unavailable.
On previous sailings, even without reservations, you could still try your luck walking in (though waits could be long). But now it seems like reservations are essentially required and there are barely any slots available.
Feels like “basic fare” is just a nicer way of saying you’ll have very limited dining options unless you upgrade.
