I usually fly American Airlines, but for business trips where I pay out of pocket I sometimes book the cheapest option, including Basic Economy.
On a recent trip (MIA to EWR, and currently EWR to MIA), I noticed something unexpected. I have no status with United and no United credit cards, yet I was assigned boarding Group 2.
On my first segment, as expected with Basic Economy, I did not earn award miles or PQF, but I did receive PQP and the flight counted toward my Million Miler status.
I also attached a screenshot of my return leg showing the same Group 2 boarding assignment.
Does anyone know why a Basic Economy passenger with no status would be placed in Group 2?
