Bag stuck at BHX for 10 days and Air France/KLM won’t respond. What now?

My checked bag has been sitting at Birmingham (BHX) for 10 days now. I was originally flying to Bordeaux for a short 3-day stay, then onward to New Zealand for work for two months.


I was told the bag would either reach Bordeaux before I left or be forwarded to New Zealand. Neither has happened.


I’ve tried everything to contact Air France/KLM. Phone lines don’t get picked up. WhatsApp and Facebook are just bots and never connect me to a real person. Emails go unanswered. Meanwhile my work equipment and basically my entire wardrobe are in that bag.


I’ve had to buy replacements and plan to submit a claim, but from what I understand I can only do that once the bag is returned, which feels ridiculous given the situation.


Does anyone know how to actually reach a human at AF/KLM or how to apply pressure to get the bag moving? Any tips or escalation paths that actually work would be hugely appreciated.
