BA really knows how to punish loyalty

Silver member here and honestly this experience has been exhausting. Got caught up in the storm Fern mess in the US. My JFK to LHR flight on 25/1 was cancelled. First got moved to a direct AA flight, then rerouted via Chicago, then Charlotte. Every single one of those got cancelled too.

Eventually I get an email from AA saying I’ve been rebooked on BA182 on 26/1 at 23:20. No choice, no prompt, no accept or decline button. Just “here you go”.

Problem is checkout at my hotel is noon. That leaves me with 11 hours to kill in a freezing, snowed in New York, and I’ll miss a full morning of work the next day. I can see earlier flights with availability, so I call to ask to be moved.

The response? I “accepted” the later flight so it can’t be changed. I explain I didn’t accept anything, it was just assigned to me. Didn’t matter. Same line over and over. Brick wall.

This is the kind of thing that really makes you question why you bother being loyal. No flexibility, no listening, no common sense. Just rules for the sake of rules
