Had a weird experience on my Southwest flight today. After boarding, I asked a flight attendant standing in an aisle seat, “Can I sit there?” She stared at me and said, “Can you?” When I repeated my question, she said again, “I’m asking you can you sit here?” Then she gave me a little lecture about saying “May I sit here, please” instead.
I speak English but it’s not my first language, and I really wasn’t being rude. The whole thing just felt unnecessary and embarrassing. Filed a complaint and Southwest said they’ll review it, but wow, that interaction stuck with me.
