Early morning departure from Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) to Washington D.C. (DCA). While boarding, I was greeted by a very friendly flight attendant who reached over me to hang up a passenger’s coat. I misread the gesture and thought he was initiating a hug, so I said something like “oh, this is new.”
He responded warmly and actually gave me a quick hug, saying it was a nice way to start the day, before clarifying he had originally just been reaching for a coat. I later joked again with him during deplaning and said I’d probably need to return the hug before leaving.
Just a lighthearted moment overall, reminding me that airline crew are people too and sometimes small gestures of kindness go a long way.
