Just returned a rental and Avis slapped me with a 450 cleaning fee. Called them thinking it was obviously a mistake and they sent me “proof”… a single empty water bottle and an empty plastic cup. That’s it. No dirt, no stains, nothing.
Argued with them and they knocked it down to 125 but that still feels ridiculous. At this point it’s just the principle. Seems like Avis has been pulling this scam for a while.
Is a chargeback my only move now?
