Avianca’s Not Fancy, But It Can Be a Smart Play

Avianca’s one of those airlines where your experience completely hinges on what you book and how prepared you are. I’ve had some smooth, dirt-cheap hops through Bogotá and also sat through a four-hour flight in a barely-padded seat with no recline or Wi-Fi. Their 787 Business Class is decent when it shows up, but in Economy, you better bring snacks, a charger, and maybe a backup plan.

If you're a carry-on-only traveler with Star Alliance miles to burn, it can be a killer deal. Just don’t expect comfort unless you pay for it iterally.Image
